Who is your camera man where is shooting, is shooting the wood
That's first I thing I check with a Ford truck. Seen it along I use jumper cable from battery to block can get you in the shop.
Nissan?
Yes!
thank you for the video youtube. i am working on a1990 thruderbirt 3.8, i think, supercharged no start and 3 bad capacitors. replaced the capaciors, but still no start and seems like no communication with the engine eec. will start with exactly what you showed in this youtube. but have no wiring diagrams yet. thanks again. edwinstarr24. this video is very helpful. ed.
Phenomenal job brother outstanding diagnosis 👏👏 Greatly appreciated!
You make me want to be a car diagnostician. No joke.
It's such a rewarding job man. I still love the chase
@@ScannerDanner I have the intuition for it, but not the knowledge. I know a lot of guys who have the knowledge but not the intuition. You have both.
very good video
🤡 some serious burn action at the end.
"there I fixed it" at 0:10 🤪
Hello Danner I have a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3 liter I have no spark in my ignition coils, I checked the positive cable and the ground cable. Unfortunately there is ground on my positive cable when the engine stops, so I wanted to know if this is normal? please help, thank you
A 2000 blazer only has one coil and what cables are you talking about? Are you saying you have no power on coil positive?
@@ScannerDanner Thank you Danner for your feedback. No, I have a pink plus line as soon as the car is stationary and I put the test lamp on the ground pole and I have ground on the plus line (pink). And when the engine control unit is plugged in, I have continuity under the ICM connector. Could you send me your email address I would send you a video of the procedure if you have time please take a look at it
@akbarmisdag7925 po st this to my forum. It's free to join and we can help you for sure www.scannerdanner.com
@@ScannerDanner thanks, I will do that
This is were experience comes in and confidence...i would have questioned myself 3 times before moving on. Is the tps signal really good, air flow? You just measured it and you were able to confidently say this is good and go after fuel pressure in the long run
Just applying my known fundamentals my friend. This was actually a good exercise for techs to see. Even on today's cars, it all still applies. Thank you!
I had to add extra grounds to my bseries 92 civic swap for it to crank
Chevy!?
A poor ground makes for bad sensor readings and poor engine performance both in power and MPG.
Could we have found that band relay with a thermal imaging camera or laser temperature sensor?
I suspect we would’ve seen that the contactor tips were glowing hot from the high resistance and would’ve shown up on the infrared camera? Great video love your work.
Maybe, but relays do get very hot under normal conditions. Thanks!
GOAT
You one of the few instructors that use a test light in training. Most guys coming into the industry do not own an incandescent test light. It becomes very frustrating when they call and ask for help! Keep it up!!!
So much misinformation surrounding the old fashion test light when computers came about and unfortunately continues to this day. Thanks!
That is awesome Professor. Easy and quick. I like it cause I got burned on a poor ground. Happy Motoring.
The funny part was your son driving barefoot. Let the clutch out barefoot. Good experience
AWESOME THANKS FOR SHARING SD🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Does coolant coming out of rad on cold start mean bad head gasket
Most likely
But what is weird does not run hot no milky oil. Nothing out of the ordinary. Xterra 4.0 engine. @ScannerDanner
@@shanemartin6822 what made you check that? If there is no fluid loss, no overheating, no misfire symptoms, then I would worry about it. Maybe some type of water pump design? I don't know
@ScannerDanner I was told to check for air bubbles in radiator and when I did with both caps off it shot the coolant out of the radiator neck.
@shanemartin6822 for what reason? What are your symptoms?
Awesome Outstanding job thanks
Paul I have been trying to figure out this for a while now hopefully you can answer it . When I was subscribed as member the slide and classes were great. But the ones on pull up and pull down sensor circuits seemed to be backwards from what everyone else was teaching including a couple books I bought. I know I must be missing something can you help. Your slides on pull up circuits the voltage comes externally from pcm and pull down IT’s sourced internally. All the information I have is the opposite 🤷🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙇🏼♂️ lost and confused. My ocd has too know 😵💫
Yes sir. I teach it from what the switch does and refuse to teach it the other way. If a switch is connected to ground, what is the switch doing? It is pulling the signal voltage down (pull-down design in my book) Why would we ever call that a pull-up circuit. I don't care that there is a pull-up resistor inside of the ECM on that circuit. Make sense?
@@ScannerDanner it made sense to me the way you teach it just wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing something. Thanks Paul 👍🏻👊🏻
Man you are alegend❤
Good job Danner
Laughing while he is learning that's cool Dad
Laughter is the best way
Camera man is a real one, he don't pretend to know something he simply asks questions. Good stuff.
Absorbed by water is called hydrophobic...
adjective: hygroscopic (of a substance) tending to absorb moisture from the air. relating to humidity or its measurement.
Real sharp there! I bought an aftermarket one recently, and that's why I'm watching your video! Awesome video! Thanks man!
Bad ECM’s will cause this same behavior though coil pack is the easiest fastest gamble. If that doesn’t fix it, open the ecm and you’ll probably see one of the transistors is swollen (bad)
A bad ecm driver would cause a no spark on two towers, not one
This is were that common knowledge is necessary. Awesome work Paul!
Thats how my repairs usually go!
I know this frustration well, Paul. In my experience, anytime I've encountered this type of problem, the theft code at the bottom of the list, has been the decision maker for me, in calling the ecm as faulty.
I concur
Good job ✅️ - so you're looking for .8 volts?
Yes, at least .8 on the rich side
@@ScannerDanner thanks -
cheap ridex sensor, i no mechanic, took me a year to vind out. Looks like your sensor. ruclips.net/user/shortsnNWqQl_7RhU
15:52 looks like my sensor reading.
Come for the knowledge , stay for the humble
Ok. Never mind.. I thought it would have been vacuum.. I was stuck on your other video.
it wasn't a vacuum leak on the other video either 😉
Seems like a vacuum I haven't watched the whole video yet but I saw another on vacuum lean. Condition.
vacuum leaks do not cause low power conditions, ever
Your overthinking I get it.. used to modern... I do too. ❤
What overthinking was I doing?
Danner old engine right why think sensors are bad.. it starts.. right?
When chasing any driveability issue, you must confirm the critical inputs are working as designed.
The real question is who PAYS for the bad call? Parts/Labor?? As a B tech currently, on my own side work, I eat the bad calls. Or just put the old good part in the box and send it back to parts. for refund. You have no idea how many times I get screwed by people who do that at NAPA, Rockauto, O'riley's, Car Quest. I got a used fuel pump from Rockauto, next one was slightly used, it didn't fix it and they returned it with gas in it... I was pissed and told them to make sure to ship what I expected..
the garage should be the one paying for the bad call
Danner’s bro got a backwoods blunt wrap in his shirt pocket. Nice. Blowing trees lol
Lol, it's just tobacco
this is the case where that old analog meter with a needle is almost better. the input impedence along with sample rate on some digitals would make this test really difficult.
Output voltage is too low on these oxygen sensors to be able to run an analog voltmeter
there's your problem lady- that fart can muffler.
I'm having issues with my diesel can. In 5th and 6th gear the rev clock starts waving up and down and struggling to get power. If the problem is the sensor would unplugging the sensor stop the acceleration problem so I could replace it?
You cannot always trust the unplug it test
Like riding a bike.... Like roller skating.... You never forget stick shifting❤
I wish I was your apprentice!❤ You have knowledge I strive to obtain. (Your son is adorable. Sorry dude. But you are. Your baby too! ) thanks Scanner Danner.
I do a lot of backyard repairs for family and friends and I only guarantee my labor. You can't even trust new parts let alone the parts that have been on the car for 20+ years
